Are you looking to soak up some sun(screen)? If you want to spend the day at a park, riding horses, floating down a river, or just want to enjoy the outdoors, take a look below at five different ways to get the most out of the outdoors.
1. Dusty Trails
Aching for an adventure? Dusty Trails has got you covered. At Dusty Trails, you will find a wide array of activities including horseback riding, riding lessons, kayaking, canoeing, and tanking, the relaxing water activity unique to Nebraska. Breath in the fresh air in the open country side, float down the North Platte River in a stock tank, or let the experienced horses lead you down a scenic trail. No matter your age, you will be sure to love Dusty Trails and all there is to do!
Potter’s Pasture Mountain Bike Trail is located in Brady and has trails available for both hiking and bike riding. Take a couple hours to revel in the breathtaking views as you hike or bike through the 1,200 acres of hills and canyons. There are trails of varying difficulty, accommodating for the novice or pro. Make sure to slather on the sunscreen as you can spend a whole day or half day here!
3. Cody Park
As one of North Platte’s largest parks, Cody Park has so much that you could dedicate a whole day here. For the youngsters, there are rides and a playground, and a drive-by zoo. For the active ones, there are tennis courts, horseshoes pits, baseball and softball complexes. For the outdoorsy type, there’s a campground site, picnic area, and historical train display. Need a break to cool down? Enjoy the concessions that serves the best soft served ice cream in town!
Centennial Park provides a beautiful space, perfect for taking a walk with friends or bringing the kids to the playground. Additionally, there are ten soccer fields and seven baseball diamonds used by youth leagues and organizations; there is also a public skate park and playground. The gazebo is a great place to host any event ranging from baby showers to birthday parties and is available for rent.
Memorial Park is a wet wonderland in the summer, offering a splash pad for young kids in the afternoon during certain hours. Always available for use are the open picnic and recreational space as well as the large playground area. There is also a life-size steam locomotive on display for viewing and a gazebo available to rent for any occasion. Seize the day and spend it at Memorial Park!
