Equipment rental and transportation for canoeing and tubing adventures. Trail Rides will be a new addition to Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park and State Recreational Area. The rides, provided by Dusty Trails, will be hour-long rides through the State Recreational area and will travel along the scenic North Platte River. Regular hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 6:00pm or by appointment during the week. Cost is $15 per rider or $20 per horse per hour by appointment. On this challenging and scenic 18-hole public facility, the Platte River comes into play on several holes.
Jeffrey Lake also serves as fish and wildlife habitat. Since the Supply Canal carries water throughout the year, the area is a magnet for a wide variety of aquatic birds, fish and mammals. The Lake is plentiful with Big and Small mouth Bass, Walleye, Crappies, Catfish and other indigenous species. 595 surface acres and is the second largest lake on the Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District Supply Canal.

The course features a putting green, chipping green, driving range, snack bar and pro shop. Par 72. Course Ratings: Blue - 72.6/124, White - 60.4/120, Red - 70.1/115. At this challenging regulation course, the rolling terrain offers few level lies, and sand and trees can get in the way on several holes.
A gazebo shelter of approximately 725 square feet. Shelter has a raised floor, electrical hookup and also has a handicap accessible ramp. Centennial Park, located between the South Platte River and Francis and Oak and McDonald Streets is comprised of 103 acres. Within Centennial Park are: Seven youth baseball diamonds which are utilized by the Little League Association for league play. Two hard-surfaced, lighted tennis courts. No charge. The Cody Park swimming pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day, as are the concession stand and kids rides (limited openion prior to Memorial Day and after Labor Day). The wildlife includes peacocks, geese and ducks, donkeys, deer, elk, buffalo and llamas. Cody Park is North Platte's largest park and features the Wild West Memorial at the entrance and Cody Park Railroad Museum, Flight For 9 Disc Golf Course and Horseshoe pits on the eastern edge. The Cody Park Softball complex features four lighted fields, and the newly resurfaced tennis area features eight courts.
Several open areas for picnicking and general recreational use. A large playground area. A Union Pacific small steam locomotive is on display for viewing only. No walk through. A gazebo shelter is available to rent. A Community Unity Tile Sculpture Memorial Park, located between Bryan and Tabor on East 4th Street consists of approximately four square blocks. Within the park are: Two hard-surfaced tennis courts. No charge. A multi-purpose court. Restroom facilities open April 15th through October 15th.

We offer every competitive distance up to a half-marathon distance. We have 5Ks (3.1 miles), 10K’s (6.2 miles), a 15K (9.3 miles), and a half-marathon (13.1 miles), offering a continuum of challenging fitness activities. The 2013 series featured 21 races. These events reflect the Platte River area, extending in communities from Ogallala to Brady. Triathlon distances range from a super-sprint, 2 sprint opportunities, to an Olympic distance triathlon. In addition, we offer a sprint adventure triathlon.

The canal, which carries water year-round, and the canyon lakes are used for hunting, hiking, canoeing, camping and fishing. The public is permitted to use the entire length of the canal for recreational purposes, excluding areas around Central’s three hydroelectric plants and NPPD’s Canaday Steam Plant.

A day or season pass is required for entry into NGPC areas. Primitive campsites are located on the east and west sides of the lake, while a private camping area with electrical hook-ups and a nine-hole golf course are located along the north shore. Four boat launching ramps and two swimming areas are available. NPPD maintains a roost and perch tree protection program for eagles and -- during the winter months -- bird watchers can observe numerous wintering American Bald Eagles. The Sutherland Reservoir is a 3,000-surface-acre lake located three miles south of the Interstate 80 Exit at Sutherland, Neb. NPPD owns and manages the Sutherland Reservoir, part of its hydropower system. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) oversees most of the recreation areas at the lake.
